Use Your Broadband Connection on the Road

The most important advantage of mobile broadband is the ability to unplug the modem from your desktop computer and take it with you on the road for use with your laptop.

Anywhere you can get a good signal, you have access to the internet. This means that you can literally take your office with you. If you do not have mobile broadband, you depend on the availablily of wireless hotspots (generally, you need to pay to use these). With your own mobile modem, you are simply taking your own connection with you.

Having tested both Vodaphone and O2 broadband, my preference is clearly O2. At first, I was disappointed with the connection speed I was getting. After experimentation, II discovered that the placement of the modem was critical. Originally, I had the modem plugged into a USB port at the back of the computer. Ever since I plugged it into a USB port at the side of my monitor, I have been consistently getting excellent speeds.
